Description

(Fully Online Postgraduate by Coursework Elective)

Character design has a worldwide application in web, game, comic, illustration, toy production, street art, film and TV. In this fully online course you will gain an advanced understanding of character design through contextualisation, methodologies, techniques and inspiration.

This course will enable you to establish complex methodologies and a profound understanding of character design. Group and individual projects will advance and deepen your understanding of the necessary rigours involved in both character design and creation. You will debate, identify and appraise the various elements that establish good character design though lively online activities, projects and discussions.

This course will broaden your critical and creative abilities, deepen your understanding of character design and empower you to create a range of characters from the complex and believable, to the symbolic and economical.

There is no prior skill required other than your imagination and a desire to create. You will be guided through the many possibilities of character design by illustrating that there is more to character design than simple pencil and paper.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students will receive course website location and log in instructions via their UNSW email account prior to the commencement of the course.
