Description

This course builds on the introductory course Legal Foundations for Accountants. It addresses key areas of business law which accountants and their clients will frequently encounter in the course of commercial activities. Legal issues are examined in their commercial context through extensive use of case studies. Topics examined include alternative business structures and strategies for business operation; current issues in commercial contracts; property, and securitisation of property; intellectual property; misleading conduct and regulation of advertising, marketing and fair trading; competition law and restrictive trade practices, financial instruments; bankruptcy; privacy and surveillance; and dispute resolution techniques.
