Description

Biostatistics in Drug Development, Critical Appraisal and Design of Clinical Trials will provide an introduction to epidemiology studies and the different types of clinical trial designs. The course will pro-vide students with an understanding of the importance of clinical trial design in development of a new drug candidate, and the use of appropriate statistical analysis to assist in decision making as a product advances towards the market. Students will become familiar with various statistical tests, including distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, analysis of dependent and independent variables, regressions, dose responses and sample sizes, with examples of how they are used in different trial set-tings, to both assist in trial design and data analysis.
Critical appraisal of published literature that is examined. This is a skill needed across all aspects of medicine and device development and marketing, and is heavily dependent on statistical principles and knowledge.
