Description

Broadened public awareness of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and continuing research means that more students than ever before are being identified with ASD. This course provides an in-depth look at characteristics and effective evidence based practices used to assist students with autism accomplish their educational goals. Students will become acquainted with the Disability Standards for Education (2005) and learn the instructional and curriculum-based strategies they can use in practice. Challenges faced by parents and siblings of people with autism spectrum disorders will also be discussed.
