Description

This course focuses on the relationship between projects and wider business strategy. The course analyses how project governance, stakeholder management and organizational arrangements influence the achievement of business objectives. Particular emphasis is placed on analysing the business implications of project risk. Students will be exposed to the tools and techniques used by project managers to monitor the relationship between project activity and business objectives and to help them align project activity and business objectives.

Learning Objectives

By the conclusion of this course you should be able to:
  1. understand the relationship between project outputs and business outcomes;
  2. define project success and project worth in business terms;
  3. formulate a project business case and prepare and execute a project plan so as to realise business objectives;
  4. use basic project management tools and techniques to manage project activity so as to realize business objectives;
  5. identify and manage project risk so as to realize business objectives.
