Description

Ecologies of Production provides an opportunity for students to advance their practical and theoretical understanding of object design in the context of a digitally and ecologically networked world. You will explore a range of key concepts in design practice around digital and analogue fabrication, interaction, connectivity, collaboration, and sustainability: for example generative algorithms for mass customisation. You are encouraged to further develop your practical capabilities using digital and analogue processes previously studied, whilst focusing your interests on an interdisciplinary, self directed project that responds to a 'sustainable futures' topic and prepares you for your final year project. Students need to complete ‘New Technologies, Traditional Techniques’ and ‘Material Thinking’ or their equivalents before taking this course.
