Description

This course is offered in the Master of Translation and Interpreting (Professional and Research Streams), the Master of Translation and the Master of Interpreting. You must complete practicum hours in order to obtain NAATI accreditation. The practicum activities you complete will be appropriate to the degree program in which you are enrolled, translation and/or interpreting. You will have opportunities to observe professional interpreters and/or translators at work; visit and experience various settings where professional interpreters and/or translators are required; participate in a mentoring program with practitioners; perform simulated and real life interpreting and/or translation practice under supervision. You will also acquire relevant professional skills such as project management skills, marketing and business skills and knowledge of CAT tools. You will participate in Interpreting and translation conferences and seminars. There are opportunities to provide service to the national professional association (AUSIT), develop teaching resources and participate in research projects.
