Description

Figure and Figuration: Mapping the Body looks at the intersection of contemporary art practices and gender, sexuality and the body. Students in this studio course will explore the ways in which art practice, whether painting, drawing, photography or printmaking, addresses the representation of the body. Students will be introduced to the work of contemporary practitioners who explicitly engage with the body and its political meanings and explore how the body has been theorised, represented, ignored or fetishised and will be supported to develop a sophisticated studio practice of their own that explores the complexities of figure, figuration and the body.
