Description

This is an introductory course in Finance designed to equip students with the basic tools and techniques necessary to understand and make financial decisions. It is primarily for those students who have not been working in a Finance related field and do not have a Finance background.
The course introduces key concepts used to make financial decisions and understand financial events and news. It is highly applied, using everyday examples and relying on continuous problem solving to ensure progress and assessment.The course is designed with the specific objectives:
  • To teach the key methods of finance used in the valuation of assets.
  • To provide students with a base level of knowledge to better understand financial topics and decisions as reported in the media and public policy.
  • To enable students to make better informed decisions.
  • To prepare students to be able take more advanced courses in finance should they wish.
