Description

This course covers the essential elements of measurement in education. It introduces different measurement models and their applications. The focus of the course is on understanding the basic principles of measurement, including true and error scores, reliability, validity, item analysis based on classical test theory, and standard scores construction and interpretation. Its practical uses in education and assessment include test development, item banking, item evaluation, and scale construction and evaluation. The course adopts a practical approach with students expected to learn how to use software package(s) to analyze and interpret simple data sets.
