Stream Outline

Accounting lies at the heart of economic exchange, whether conducted in physical or electronic markets. It enables students to comprehend many of the fundamental principles, processes and outcomes of business, thereby equipping students for a wide range of careers (such as management consulting, and provision of financial services to general management).

The Accounting option in your Master of Commerce extension allows you to build your knowledge in this practice, develop a core set of accounting skills which can then be a platform to support your career objectives.

you may choose from the above elective specialisation list or broaden your learning by choosing another MCom course of similar level (subject to meeting prerequisite requirements).

There is also the opportunity for high performing students to participate in an MCom Practicum (COMM5030). This would replace the Capstone course. Students will need to apply and satisfy specific criteria for entry prior to enrolment. This may also be taken as a separate elective option in selected specialisations in your final semester.
