The Master of Accounting and Business Information Technology is designed for graduates, early and mid-career professionals wanting to extend their understanding of methods and tools for leveraging accounting and information systems to enhance business value and competitiveness.

Graduates from the Master of Accounting and Business Information Technology gain the practical skills and knowledge to succeed in a range of careers, such as business analyst, forensic accountant, systems accountant, management accountant, systems analyst, system management specialist, database administrator and project manager.

The Master of Accounting and Business Information Technology (MAccBIT) is a specialist program that exposes students to current theory and practical applications of enterprise systems, business intelligence, decision support, strategic management accounting, e-business, corporate governance, risk management, audit & assurance, information systems security, and forensic investigation.

Students have the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of using leading edge business systems (including SAP and SaaS) to support a range of business decisions and strategies. The program also offers a highly flexible choice of courses that can be tailored to suit a variety of career aspirations in accounting, management / IT consulting, business strategy, audit and forensics.

The Master of Accounting and Business Information Technology consists of 12 courses (72 UOC) in Accounting and Information Systems.

Recognition of Prior Learning
A maximum of (24 UOC) may be awarded based on previous accounting or information systems studies, as determined by UNSW Business School.

Program Structure

Two Accounting Core Courses (12 UOC)

AND

Two Information Systems Core Courses (12 UOC)

AND

Eight Specialisation Courses (48 UOC)
Students must study a minimum of three courses in each discipline. The Accounting courses are to be drawn from List A and List C. The Information Systems courses are to be drawn from List B and List C.

At least one capstone (from List C) must be included.

Entry Requirements

A recognised Bachelor degree in Business, Commerce or Information Systems (or equivalent qualification) with a credit average overall, as determined by the UNSW Business School.
