Description

Designed to assist FBE research students to initiate and progress their studies, this course sets as its goal the first draft of an in-depth Critical Literature Review. To facilitate this goal, students will complete tailored workshops designed to assist in the development of sound study habits - such as inspiring the thesis, writing a literature review, generic research digital tools such as Endnotes, and time management. The balance of the classes will be workshops led by the lecturer-in-charge who will demonstrate strategies for writing literature reviews, and develop with the class criteria for their constructive critical appraisal. All students will be required to present their work for group appraisal. Face-to-face teaching is an important part of this subject so that new students are given opportunities to interact with one another. Assessment will be based on the successful completion of a 5000 word critical review of literature relevant to the thesis.
