Description

The School of Art Education is an enthusiastic small team of visual arts and design education lecturers who maintain energetic levels of involvement in the field of art education through teaching, research and industry links. The Faculty are active researchers in Art and Design education and provide consultancy in curriculum and education policy. The Occasional Seminars in Art Education are an internationally recognised series of conferences and publications. 

Staff and student research projects encompass investigations in the following:
  • The political nature of curriculum reform in national and state contexts
  • Cognitive realism and conditions for authentic artistic practice in educational settings
  • Histories of Australian art education
  • Critical influences on ideas and artistic practices and visual art research
  • Practices of creativity in art and design education context
  • Ethnographies of classroom teacher evaluative practices
