Objectives: To extend knowledge of normal physiology to areas not covered in Medical Physiology I, particularly blood, the nervous and endocrine systems and reproduction; problem solving approaches are emphasised and students are encouraged to integrate their knowledge of anatomy, biochemistry and physiology to provide an understanding of normal human structure and function. Those principles of biophysics necessary for an understanding of the subject are discussed. In addition, the subject places emphasis on applied physiology, including the physiology of exercise. Some clinical physiology is included where basic physiological principles are applied to the understanding of selected clinical disorders. Teaching involves systematic lectures, tutorials, practical classes and demonstrations.

Assessment: Examinations are held both mid-year and at the end of the year and cover both lecture and practical content.
