Concept Art bridges the gap between 'idea' and 'reality'. It allows raw ideas to be developed and visually communicated so that they can be realised through a production process.

Have you ever wanted to flesh out your own ideas into a visual form and make them more appealing and communicative? Have you ever wanted to explore digital tools to illustrate something from your imagination?

This fully online course will introduce you to the theories and techniques used in creating digital illustrations for concept art. From basic quick sketches to finished artworks, you will learn a series of theoretical and practical approaches that will help you start communicating your ideas through a visual language.

You will analyse and discuss your favourite concept art for movies, video games, product, fashion and spatial design with your peers to gain perspectives on how and why they work. You will then be introduced to different digital techniques to help you illustrate your concept artworks effective and efficiently.

Through experimentation and exploration with different digital tools you will discover new possibilities, broaden your skills and enhance your creativity. This course is relevant for students with different skill levels from diverse disciplines.

You are expected to have basic knowledge and access to graphic software such as Photoshop/Painter or Illustrator/Freehand. You don't need to be an expert artist to participate course, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn is vital.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students will receive log in instructions via their UNSW email account prior to the commencement of the course. This course is conducted via the Omnium system (omnium.edu.au).
