Description This course aims to make students aware of the ideology and philosophies of art museums through an understanding the broad educational functions of the museum including the vernacular appreciation of art and the development of a lifelong approach to learning. Students have the opportunity to observe the educational functions of the art museum within a diversity of contexts and systematically investigate the roles which the museum performs within our society. Field work in selected museums and the use of videos, discussion and group tasks course experiences include field work in museums video discussions and group work.
