Description

The subject is designed to develop a critical understanding of the relationship between specific theories of psychology, psychonalysis and art practice. The motivation, reception and interpretation of works of art will be studied in the light of such theories as Freud's 'metapsychology', Jung on Dreams, Laura Mulvey's notion of the 'gaze' and Michael Foucault's histories of madness and sexuality. Art works examined will be representative of a wide range of movements and traditions.

Note: HPW2 lecture/tutorial/seminar. Kensington Campus. Exclusions apply to some Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences courses.
