Description This course explores the relative roles of coal, uranium, oil and natural gas as our main energy sources, including current usage patterns and projection of energy needs and resources in the 21st Century. It also covers: a brief history of the international coal, oil and natural gas industries and the organisations involved in their development; the distribution of coal, oil and gas resources in Australia and world-wide, together with their economic, environmental and political significance; alternative sources of energy and improved ways of using conventional energy sources. Four-day short course delivered during July break.
