Description

The focus of this course is on special populations and their specific needs for engaging in physical activity (e.g. specific limitations, special considerations, individualisation of the testing and training procedures). The course will examine in detail the literature on the impact of physical activity on the health status of those particular populations and the specific mechanisms involved in adaptations to exercise. Example populations include the influence of physical activity on the health of children, women, ageing adults, and pain management. This course offers a mixture of traditional and interactive/case study approaches to learning and includes lectures from experts in relevant fields. Lectures will build on material presented in HESC3541 (Clinical Exercise Physiology) and will provide more in-depth knowledge on specific populations.
