Description

The course is an introduction to the planning and design of the urban landscape, emphasizing the spatial quality, scale and texture of cities. Urban form is studied as a composite of building typologies, public domain and infrastructure. Students critically analyse cities as expressions of human responses to ecological conditions and processes. The course also focuses on the roles of landscape architecture and landscape planning in sustainable/green cities. Assessment tasks include international case studies, seminar and a major research paper.
