Description

Basic atomic theory: wave mechanics and wave equations, many-electron atoms and the Pauli Principle, Brillouin Zone theory; thermal properties: heat capacity, thermal expansion and conductivity, thermoelectricity, Seebeck effect, Thomson effect; electrical properties, insulators, semi-conductors and metals, amorphous materials, dielectrics, piezoelectrics, ferroelectrics and pyroelectrics; magnetic properties: diamagnetism, paramagnetism and ferromagnetism, magnetic anisotropy, magnetostriction, antiferromagnetism, ferrimagnetism; superconductivity; optical properties.
