Description

This course presents an overview of the important elements of hypersonic aerodynamics and propulsion. It builds upon the foundations of the compressible flow course but concentrates upon those aspects that are specific to flows at speeds greater than Mach 5. The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with the background required to appreciate the current state of hypersonic research and to anticipate future developments in the field.

The course assumes that the students have a preliminary knowledge of helicopter aerodynamics. Some computer programming experience in the Matlab environment is highly recommended.
