Description

In contrast to the other courses which make up the civil engineering program this course brings together the various strands developed to date so that that students can appreciate the multi-faceted nature of the design process. Students will develop the capacity to undertake engineering investigations, prepare engineering reports, task associated professions and appreciate the effects and implications of engineering projects on communities. Structural design of a complete structure using one or more materials (depending on the availability of staff) is also required. Included is a requirement for seminar attendance (equivalent to 8 x 1 hour sessions) including for example research seminars (4) professional meetings (2) and academic seminars on leadership (2). For description of practical experience requirements see rules governing the award of the degree of Bachelor of Engineering.
