Description

What are the major global challenges and how will these affect you?

This course approaches global challenges through physical and human geographic perspectives to understand their nature and magnitude. The course has an Australian context and it demonstrates the necessity of "thinking globally" to understand and respond appropriately to global changes.

What are the causes of global change, and how do people attempt to manipulate and control changing environments?

We examine pressing issues such as: population growth, the design of cities and transport, the global drugs trade, and energy access and consumption. You will discover how these issues and others are interconnected through a hands-on approach, which includes a 2 day field school. This provides a geographically connected view for the future and complements Contemporary Global Change ZPEM1202.
