Description

Rivers play a dynamic role in shaping the Earth's landforms. Understanding sediment transport, erosion and deposition processes within rivers is critical to the management of our catchments. Coastal and estuarine areas are key features at the land-marine interface and play a major role in controlling pollutant delivery to the world’s oceans. This course examines processes forming and modifying contemporary river basins, and the delivery of material downstream to estuaries and coasts. Particular attention is given to the response of rivers and coasts to climate and land use change along with the social and economic factors influencing their management.
