Description

Indigenous Australian Political History tells the story of Indigenous Australia’s colonisation via a series of chronological episodes. Each episode focuses on the story of a particular Indigenous leader, with particular emphasis on the historical contexts and political environments that have shaped their perspectives and actions. When brought together the episodes form a narrative revealing the recurring themes, directions, tensions, successes and legacies of Indigenous Australian political history. Students will develop a broad understanding of Indigenous political agency in Australian history from 1788 to present.
