Description

Examines the historical development of music in creating meaning in a variety of genres of film. Topics include the role of music in silent films; scores composed for different genres of film associated with Hollywood; music in non-Hollywood films (Asia, India, Australia, Europe); the portrayal of music and musicians on film; and some recent operas and other works related to musical theatre.
