This course seeks to encourage critical, reflective and engaged thinking about theories of, approaches to and issues in International Political Economy (IPE). The course begins by examining a variety of theoretical approaches to IPE, so that students might develop a sophisticated understanding of the theories and concepts used to investigate and explain the structure and practices of global political-economic relations. Students will then develop and test their understandings of such theories and concepts through issue-specific examination of the processes and practices of the contemporary global political economy.
