Description
Do you have an interest in character design? Have you ever doodled on the back of an envelope and found you had created a character that had something appealing almost by accident (the angle of the eyes, a quizzical expression, a certain suggestiveness of stance) but didn't know how to take it further?
This fully online course would suit anyone who wishes to explore characterisation for their own portfolio, the web, comic or 3D worlds.
Through historical context, individual and collaborative exercises we will explore just what it is that makes strong, visual and enduring characters for the screen, page and game environments.
There is no prior skill required other than your imagination and a desire to create characters with character. You will be guided through the many possibilities of character design by illustrating that there is more to your creation than simple pencil and paper.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students will receive log in instructions via their UNSW email account prior to the commencement of the course. This course is conducted via the Omnium system (omnium.edu.au).
