Subject Area: Philosophy
This course can also be studied in the following specialisation: Politics

Topics may include one or more of the following: freedom, sociability, definitions of the human, equality, justice, democracy, constitutionalism and the rule of law, rights, legitimate political power, sovereignty, and states of emergency. Contemporary and historical approaches to political theory considered may include: liberalism, libertarianism, egalitarianism, communitarianism, republicanism, Marxism, feminism, poststructuralism, and cosmopolitanism. Issues in social philosophy discussed may include: individual and collective identity, the public and the private, modernity, cultural criticism, and authority.
