Description

An introduction to the properties and manufacture of key construction materials: cement, concrete, masonry, steel, timber, glass, aluminium, and plastic. The course provides a fundamental understanding of basic options, the constituents, the manufacturing process, and functional qualities of the construction materials that underpins many aspects of building construction and maintenance. Students will also learn the interrelationship among construction materials, their properties and durability, and sustainable design.
