Description

Neuroscience is a scientific discipline that investigates the structure and function of the nervous system. This course will allow the student to explore the current state of knowledge in neuroscience and to learn about state-of-the-art methodologies that are used to push the limits of this knowledge. Topics include: cellular architecture of the brain and spinal cord; localisation of function in the cerebral hemispheres; neural basis of fear, anxiety and addiction, spinal cord injury and hopes for repair; neurodegenerative disease; genetic basis of mental illness; viral-mediated gene therapies and stem cell-based interventions.
