Description

The introductory module on environmental toxicology (4 hours) will touch briefly on the underlying principles of toxicology, the dose-response curve and its application in environmental pollution incidents, and case studies. The course does not focus on chemical toxicology per se, which is addressed in detail by the School of Chemistry. Rather the IES course focuses on issues relating to the toxic potential in the environment and ways in which this can be managed.

Note:Some basic knowledge in fields such as chemistry / physical sciences and of contemporary environmental issues would be an advantage before enrolling in this course.
