Description

This course engages with speculative fiction, design, and film through practical techniques that include: data visualisation, collaboratively writing, designing and imaging a ‘future book’ and the future of the book. These techniques will also fold into assessment tasks. Independent and collaborative research will address different approaches to the temporal turn in art, design and theory.

Themes may include histories and critiques of the past and future, conceptions of temporality, site responsive cultural production, and the role of imagination in social change. Students will emerge from the course having a greater understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the artist and designer working in the contemporary context.
