Description

SOMA1001 Media Arts Gateway 1 is an introductory course for students in the Bachelor of Media Arts. It explores the nature of sound and vision by capturing and manipulating audio and still images, before progressing to images in motion and the sequencing of audio-visual time. Working with sound in the digital realm, students will use audio recorders to study and test the technical implications of timbre, frequency, acoustics and context. When transferring images to monitor and paper students will use the still camera to study light, colour, framing and composition.

This will assist students in selecting studio areas for further study. SOMA1001 and SOMA1002 courses are complementary and may be completed in any order.
