Description

Light can be the difference between materiality and immateriality – it’s all in the way the shadows fall. This course develops your conceptual and technical knowledge of photography through an examination of micro and macro worlds constructed in the photographic studio environment. The course focuses on making the inanimate animate through the shaping of light. You will explore basic aspects of studio lighting and build your knowledge of different equipment and techniques, including electronic flash and tungsten lighting.

'Photography and Shaping Light' is an introductory 2000 level studio course and is offered in conjunction with 'Photogram to Instagram'. It is followed by the third year courses 'Public Images, Private Realities' and 'Photographies: Expanded Fields' as a single stream in Photography.
