Description
This course requires that students undertake a project during a second four week placement in a workplace. Students will have completed Professional Practice 1 (PP1) and so PP2 will be an opportunity to target an employer or organisation which will add further value to their career development.
In applying for this placement, students will be able to draw on the achievements and workplace feedback gained from PP1 and other DPP courses they have completed. Again students will be supported to organise their own vocational placement of a minimum of four weeks (full time equivalent, i.e. 140-160 hours). Having secured the placement, they will liaise with the employer to plan a project or activities to ensure the placement provides positive outcomes for both themselves and the organisation. The workplace may be based in Australia or overseas and related to their discipline, a workplace chosen to develop targeted skills, or a not for profit organisation where they can gain relevant skills and an appreciation of Corporate Social Responsibility.
The project will be negotiated with the organisation and documented using an e-portfolio. It will include an analysis of the business, a project proposition, a consideration of the skills to be developed, and a critical reflection on the outcomes of the project in terms of the benefits for the business and the student.
Students will also research and report on the leadership and corporate culture of the organisation incorporating the knowledge, skills and strategies gained from the Introduction to the Workplace and Professional Practice 1 courses. Throughout the placement students will record and critically reflect on certain directed aspects of their performance and that of the organisation.
Assessment will be the project report including a self evaluation incorporating an evaluation from their workplace supervisor, a report on the leadership and corporate culture of the organisation, and an e-Portfolio reflection on the course and their personal development during the course.
