Description

This course will introduce students to the critical role of human resources to the construction sector’s efficiency, effectiveness and productivity. It will discuss the changing nature of the construction workforce and over the horizon trends and challenges that will change the way we work in the future. It will explore the mechanisms by which managers can create an engaged workforce and will discuss the challenges of communicating business issues across cultural borders and boundaries, introducing students to various techniques for managing a multicultural workforce. The course will also discuss the issue of workplace relations and the evolution and development of HRM in the construction industry and it will look at different management theories and link them to contemporary HRM practices.
