Description

This unit provides students with an opportunity to draw together and integrate their learning in aspects of Public Health and apply these to a research project; a program plan or policy evaluation, systematic review or manual. A three-day workshop, online group facilitations, and a project study guide will prepare students for this task. Students will complete their project demonstrating how to analyse a public health problem and devise an appropriate response. Assessment will include an oral presentation of the project, a final written product (e.g. project report, policy or program evaluation plan), and a reflective journal about the development of that final report.

The Public Health Capstone provides a valuable opportunity for students to:
  1. develop a project or study and work with a community setting or health-related agency of their choice,
  2. critically assess and contribute potential solutions to a public policy problem,
  3. develop and enhance their analytic skills, and
  4. gain specialized experience in an area of particular interest.
