Description

This course covers the study of the structure and function of the human body. Topics including Surface Anatomy, Chemistry, Cells, Genetics, Histology, Integumentary System, Skeletal System, Joints, Muscular System, Central/Peripheral/Autonomic Nervous Systems and Sense Organs. To enhance understanding of concepts, activities used for instruction and assessment of learning include: discussion/presentations; textbook and supplemental readings; individual and group activities/assignments; hands-on dissections and case scenarios. This course also provides valuable professional skills such as laboratory skills, problem-solving, working as part of a team and research and presentation skills. As such, this course prepares students for a wide range of opportunities in public health including: teaching, science communication, exercise physiology, medical sales and health research as a research assistant.
