Description

YMED1006 is the second semester of the study of structure and function of the human body. Topics include: The Blood and Cardiovascular System, Respiratory System, Lymphatic System, Endocrine System, Urinary System, Digestive and Reproductive Systems. To enhance understanding of concepts, activities used for instruction and assessment of learning include: discussion/presentations; textbook and supplemental readings; individual and group activities/assignments; hands-on dissections and case scenarios. This course prepares students for a wide range of opportunities in public health including: teaching, science communication, exercise physiology, medical sales and health research as a research assistant. Students will also be well prepared for further postgraduate education in careers such as medicine, physiotherapy, podiatry and prosthetics and orthotics, or to undertake a PhD to become a research scientist or to follow an academic career.
