Description

This course introduces students to the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering disciplines. The students will learn about the engineering profession, social context of engineering, ethics, workplace health and safety, graphics, technical communication, quantitative analysis and engineering materials. The course will also involve a number of guest lectures from defence and/or industry personnel and a practical component leading to the development and demonstration of workshop competencies. The course is intended to help the students understand the context, significance and impact of Mechanical and Aerospace engineering in the society and position them to pursue a career in these fields. The knowledge gained through the course forms a broad foundation for the subsequent core courses taught in these disciplines.
