The Minor in Writing develops students’ creative compositional capacities in the English language. It is closely aligned with subject matter in the fields of English and Cultural Studies. It develops practical skills in writing in various genres, as well as in editing and in understanding the professional contexts in which communication through writing plays a central role.

The aims of the BA Minor in Creative Writing are:

  • to develop effective rhetorical capacities through reflection on the English language
  • to develop broad understandings of effective written communications and their professional contexts
  • to foster critical and creative engagement with literary and cultural theory through reasoned and open-minded debate
