Description

From modest and intimate rooms for domestic living to buildings, places and spaces accommodating complex needs and those that are extraordinary and culturally iconic lies the disciplined creativity of architecture. As the professional who considers the design of a building and its setting in its entirety, an Architect approaches architectural design with a thoughtful inclusive stance to meet the needs of people who use the building, clients and the broader community.

In their design practice, Architects are mindful of sustainability, cultural and economic considerations and their effective creative integration. Architecture is an exciting and dynamic discipline and practice. Graduates work closely in multidisciplinary settings with other built environment professionals. Our goal is to educate students to be intrepid leaders who engage with complex architectural design challenges so they may deliver considered and well designed environments to enhance peoples’ lives.

The Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BArchStudies) is the commencement undergraduate degree pathway that prepares students to be considered for registration as an Architect. With its aligned two year accredited Master of Architecture degree, the BArchStudies delivers a comprehensive architectural education appropriate to contributing to architectural practice in a contemporary multidisciplinary global context. Taught by leading academics and practitioners in a studio based setting complemented by lecture and elective course learning, Architectural Studies educates students in the discipline of architecture to think analytically and critically, with initiative and creativity.

The BArchStudies requires full-time attendance for three years. Eligible graduates apply for entry into the Master of Architecture program if they wish to continue their studies to become registered Architects.
