Overview

The course focuses on the impact of the sedimentary environment, burial history and associated diagenesis on source rock potential, maturation and migration. Included topics are: the composition of petroleum, the accumulation and maturation of kerogen, factors controlling source rock formation, depositional environments and resulting sedimentary structures and compositions, petroleum maturation and migration, burial and compaction of sediments and basin evolution, structural evolution and imaging of sedimentary basins.
