This 6-credit point course is an introduction to Finance aimed to equip students with the basic tools and techniques necessary to understand and make financial decisions. It is being introduced to 8388 Masters in Business and students who have not been working in a Finance-related field and do not have a finance background.
The course is applied, using everyday examples and relying on continuous problem solving to ensure progress and assessment. Specific objectives include:
covering key technical concepts used to make financial decisions.
covering key methods used in the valuation of assets;
providing knowledge to better understand financial topics and decisions as reported in the media and public policy;
preparing students to take more advanced courses in finance, such as ZBUS8105 Finance and Investment Appraisal.
