Overview

This Professional Master of Science is a flexible coursework program delivered primarily online with some courses delivered through blended, face-to-face or intensive delivery modes. The program aims to qualify science or science-related professionals to integrate advanced bodies of scientific disciplinary knowledge with science professional skills and leadership skills in a range of contexts for professional practice.

The program is designed and delivered in partnership and consultation with industry and multi-disciplinary experts to ensure it is responsive to the current and emerging needs and trends in the national and global job markets. They will be able to develop advanced professional capabilities that are valued by industry, broaden the scope of their expertise to include leadership skills, deepen their primary expertise with latest developments and emerging technologies in the field, and explore science topic(s) that are complementary to their primary expertise.

Features of the program include:

  • a work integrated learning component, where students undertake a professional experience project at their own workplace or as part of an external research team;
  • a compulsory course in advanced communication, where students will have the opportunity to attend the UNSW Sydney campus for a week of intensive conference-style study*
  • a suite of flexible electives covering a wide range of scientific areas of study.**

* Please note that all travel and accommodation costs will be at the student's own expense where applicable.

** Students are encouraged to plan their electives carefully as some will be offered under a different academic calendar.
